Policies

The purpose of this "Policies" page is to give our families and the community an understanding of the PPPCS policies.

Our Family Handbook contains information specific to the Patterson Park Public Charter School, as well as some information from Baltimore City Schools.  Many PPPCS policies are identical to those of City Schools, and City Schools publishes two handbooks that  families should also read: the BCPS Family Handbook and the Code of Conduct

PPPCS distributes copies of all three of these handbooks to every student at the start of every school year.

Uniforms

Mandatory school uniforms are considered a critical piece to achieving a positive and safe school climate and a sense of community for PPPCS. Research shows that wearing uniforms affects students’ perceptions of school climate. Students are made to feel as if they are a part of a team by wearing a uniform. We have four key uniform support programs:

  • on-site uniform fittings and purchase
  • used uniform sale
  • pre-order store
  • financial aid

Parent Volunteering

At PPPCS, we know parent involvement is a critical key to student success, so our families commit to volunteering a number of hours every school year through our Parent Volunteer Program. These volunteer hours are accrued through traditional direct-service volunteering and through other types of parent involvement, including attending parent-teacher conferences and workshops.

Community members who are not parents of PPPCS students are also welcome to volunteer at PPPCS. People from all walks of life with a variety of gifts and talents make a huge impact in the lives of our students.
