Our School
Our mission at PPPCS is to develop well educated, community-minded children by providing high-quality, community-based education that capitalizes on the diversity of nearby neighborhoods and the resources of Patterson Park. Central to this mission is a school culture based on students, staff, parents, and guardians functioning as one community. We have parents, guardians and community members devoting time to help with the school's policies, educational agenda, and community building ambitions.
Our vision for educating students at Patterson Park Public Charter School (PPPCS) is to unite students, parents, guardians, educators, and the Patterson Park area through an educational environment that rewards creativity and builds community ties. Strong academic standards and community/arts-related partnerships will encourage PPPCS students to become independent and responsible thinkers. PPPCS aspires to socioeconomic, racial and ethnic diversity in its student population and will incorporate the many attendant cultures into its curriculum and daily life.
The school is located at the former St. Elizabeth's Catholic School on E. Baltimore St. and Lakewood Ave. With Patterson Park as its epicenter, the school draws students from all six of the neighborhoods that border the park—Patterson Park, Patterson Place, Butchers Hill, Highlandtown, Canton, and Fells Prospect.
The 2005-2006 school year wil cover grades K-4. We will be adding fifth grade for the 2006-2007 school year and a grade every school year up to eighth grade.
