Resources

In order to empower and engage our families to be involved and supported, PPPCS provides many resources to support families.

Family Resource Room

Patterson Park Public Charter School is dedicated to the involvement of our families in our students’ education. The Family Resource Room (FRR) is a place in the school set aside for our parents’ use, where parents can connect with each other, the school and the community. Families are welcome to use the FRR as a place to socialize, find support, and access community resources. The FRR is also available for families to attend workshops and adult education classes and explore ways to be involved in the school and in their children’s education. Additionally, the FRR will serve as a workspace for family volunteers and the HOPPP, for meetings, school mailings, projects, and other school-related activities.

The FRR also offers:

  • computer and internet access
  • educational materials for loan
  • informational materials regarding parenting, child development, and educational strategies
  • notices and information about community resources and events
  • opportunities for career exploration and advancement

Hours of operation:
Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

*The FRR may be open other evenings for events, meetings or classes.

Staff

The school is staffed with several professionals dedicated to family support:

  • Community School Coordinator (Liz Obara)
  • Volunteer Coordinator (Kathleen Filkins)
  • School Social Worker (Susan Witty)
  • Mentoring Program Coordinator (Lyndsay Tufts)

Adult Education

PPPCS partners with Baltimore City Community College to provide adult education courses. Currently, we offer GED/pre-GED, Spanish, and Computer classes. We also refer families to nearby English classes also provided by BCCC.

Workshops

PPPCS offers family workshops monthly at our First Thursdays Education Series, which is on the first Thursday of every month at 6 pm in the cafteria. Other workshops are also offered. Please read the Weekly Announcements, found on the News/Events page for specific information.
