HOPPP
Patterson Park Public embraces the research that shows that students with families that are involved in their education perform better in school. Therefore, the school strongly encourages involvement in Hands on Patterson Park Public (HOPPP), the organized group for parents and guardians at our school. The primary goals of HOPPP are to support family involvement and advocate for the education and well-being of all students in our school.
About HOPPP
All parents and guardians of a student at Patterson Park Public are automatically HOPPP members. HOPPP provides a supportive forum and network where parents/guardians can:
- Initiate events and fundraising opportunities that enhance the educational and social experience for all families in the school.
- Be fully informed about school policies and expectations, and be encouraged to participate in school-sponsored events and respond to school volunteer needs.
- Obtain information that will help families to support their child’s educational experience in the pursuit of academic excellence.
- Identify and discuss concerns with school operations, and work with school leadership to create solutions.
HOPPP also provides representation to the school’s Board of Directors via a Parent-at-Large elected by parents/guardians each year at the April HOPPP meeting.
Meeting Dates and Times
HOPPP meets monthly during the school year and encourages active participation through leadership positions, volunteering efforts, family-focused events and fundraisers. Meeting and event schedules are released at the beginning of each school year. Light breakfast fare is provided at all HOPPP meetings and families receive two volunteer hours for attending. Simultaneous Spanish translation is provided.
