Frank Alden Jr. (President)

Franklin Alden Jr., B.A., J.D. is a teacher of Geometry at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Baltimore. Upon graduating from St. John’s College, Annapolis, MD, he began teaching Geometry and AP Computer Science at Georgetown Preparatory School, where he taught for seven years. Franklin attended the University Of Maryland School Of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 2006. Finding his work in the legal profession singularly uninspiring, he accepted the position of Geometry Teacher at Cristo Rey, where he will be writing the Geometry curriculum and teaching the School’s first sophomore class this fall. Frank lives in Fell’s Prospect with his wife Christine. 

Maribel Costa (Vice President)

Maribel is a parent and volunteer at PPPCS and is a 4 year resident of Baltimore City, having relocated from Montgomery County, MD. She has a BFA in Design from The Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC and has 15 years of experience working in the creative industry in the Mid-Atlantic region. She is currently an Interactive Art Director at Fathom Creative in Washington DC. She and her partner Jenny, live in Fell’s Prospect with their nine-year-old daughter Sierra, a fourth grader at PPPCS.

Tim Pence (Treasurer)

Tim is a founding member and a father of third grade student of PPPCS. He is the former president of HOPPP (Hands on Patterson Park Public) and is now a member of the Board of Directors in the role of Treasurer. Tim has a BS in Environmental Science from Towson University and is employed as  a technical manager at Gerstel Incorporated. He, his wife and two children, currently reside in Brewer’s Hill.

Anne Hendrick (Secretary)

Anne is a former Baltimore City Public School teacher at the elementary level. She has a Masters in Education from Johns Hopkins. Anne taught in Southwest Baltimore (Westport Elementary School #225) and East Baltimore (Highlandtown Elementary #215) where she mentored new teachers, wrote curriculum, and administered many forms of state standardized tests. Anne is a 16-year resident in a neighborhood just west of Patterson Park where she lives with her husband, a PPPCS teacher, and her two children, a third grader and a kindergartener at Patterson Park Public Charter School. Anne is one of the school's founders and currently spends a lot of time volunteering at PPPCS.

Stephanie Simms (Past President)

As Founding President of the Board and Founding Member of Patterson Park Public Charter School, lnc, working together with other founders, Stephanie devised a nonprofit entity, developed community partnerships, secured marketing and MSDE grants, acquired pro-bono legal council, and won Baltimore City School Board approval for opening in September 2005 with over 300 students in grades K-4. She is also a co-founder of the Coalition for Baltimore Charter Schools. Currently, Stephanie is the Technical Assistance Project Executive for Maryland Charter School Network, the statewide non profit organization which serves existing and founding charter schools throughout Maryland. Stephanie completed her MBA at Pepperdine. Stephanie is married to a Baltimore native and has a son, Cole, who is a Kindergartener at PPPCS.

Terry Moir (Member at Large)

Terry Moir is a retired teacher and guidance counselor.  She has a BA in English Secondary Education and a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling.  She earned both degrees at Loyola College of Maryland.  Terry spent the first half of her professional career teaching secondary English.  She taught seventh and eighth grades at Robert Poole in Hampden for five years.  Moving to Anne Arundel County, she continued as an English instructor at Old Mill and Southern High Schools.  Following the completion of her Master’s degree, Terry began her tenure as a guidance counselor.  She retired in June of 2007 as the head of the Guidance Department at Southern High in Harwood.  Terry and her partner, Clint Gosnell, also a retired educator and still active lacrosse coach, moved to Camden crossing in July of 2007.  Since then Terry has become active in community volunteerism and serves on two committees in the Pigtown Area.  She became very interested in Patterson Park Public Charter School through her neighbor, Ryan Kaiser, who teaches Social Studies at PPPCS.  She was elected to its Board in June of 2009.

Carnitra White (Member at Large)

Ms. White is the Executive Director of the Social Services Administration in the Maryland Department of Human Resources.  In this position, she serves as the State’s Child Welfare Director.  She manages the overall design and day-to-day functioning of a team of Deputy Directors, managers and subordinate staff who provide direction and oversight to statewide staff, as well as the development and implementation of child welfare policy and practice, and oversees the production of federal and state reporting.  Ms. White earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.  Ms. White is the guardian of a student at PPPCS. 

Tiffany James (Parent at Large)

Ms. James is Special Assistant to the Executive Director and Public Relations Manager at the Parking Authority of Baltimore City where she focuses on researching and implementing parking demand management strategies.  She began working at the Parking Authority in March of 2007.  Previously, she spent more than two years as a Neighborhood Liaison in the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods during the administration of then-Mayor Martin O’Malley.  Ms. James earned a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  She has a child in kindergarten at PPPCS.

Kristin Potler (Parent at Large)

Ms. Potler is the co-founder of LoveFeast Table, a food and lifestyle company.  She also teaches and leads a group of people who are involved in charitable services in Baltimore City and abroad.  They have raised money for Ugandan orphans, served meals to the homeless, cleaned up skate parks and raised awareness of victims of sex trafficking.  Ms. Potler and her husband have owned two companies: Jahva House (a coffee shop) and currently Ripristino Remodeling.  She has also operated a homeschool co-op called Community Kidz that was formed to encourage children to serve their neighbors.  They visited nursing homes, and collected hats and coats for refugee families.  Ms. Potler has an Associate of Arts degree in Hotel Restaurant Management and attended three years of college.  She has three children who attend PPPCS.
