Volunteering

At Patterson Park Public Charter School, we believe an inclusive and supportive family community is critical to the development of both our students’ education and the overall school community. The importance of our families’ involvement is tremendous, and the nature and quality of many programs offered to students depends on the dedication of such committed parents.

Therefore, every family in our school is asked to sign a pledge of commitment of volunteer service to the school. Volunteer service must be completed during the school year, before June 30. For two-parent/guardian households, this is a 30 hour commitment (per family, not per student!) and for single parent/guardian households, the commitment is 15 hours.

PPPCS provides many opportunities throughout the school year to fulfill volunteer obligations! We would like to use your time and talents to the maximum advantage for the whole school community! Opportunities include, but are not limited to:

  • Classroom Assistance
  • Field Trip Chaperones
  • Breakfast, Lunch & Recess Monitors
  • Special Events/Programs
  • School Related Meetings (Including all HOPPP meetings)

We also know that many of our parent/guardians work during the school day, and are oftentimes unable to volunteer during the school week. Because of this we offer volunteer opportunities on the weekends and after school; parents may also receive volunteer hours simply by taking their students to educational events/programs such as:

  • Libraries
  • Museums
  • The Zoo
  • Community Events/Community Association Meetings
  • PPPCS committee meetings
